-Annual household waste discharge per capita increased from 0.97 to 1.03 ton(2010-2017) in Korea

-In Korea, household wastes are managed by local government according to the 'originating principle' and 'pollution factor burden principle'.

-There is a lack of research that evaluating local governments' municipal waste management performance by using indicators that are the criteria for determining the sustainability of municipal waste management.

-This study compares and evaluates whether municipal waste management is heading toward a sustainable direction, and lays the foundation for local governments to benchmark each other.
